Early Career in Radiation Protection
Join the ECRad meeting & social event at ERPW 2026
Early career researchers in radiation protection attending ERPW 2026 are warmly invited to join the ECRad satellite meeting on Monday 05.10.2026 15:00-17:00 CEST! This year’s theme is AI and the future of radiation protection.
What is ECRad?
ECRad is an initiative which connects early career researchers and professionals in radiation protection across Europe. Beyond building a community for early-career scientist, it aims to connect and strengthen the many initiatives for ECRs offered by projects, partnerships, associations, and organizations, acting as a bridge across the European radiation protection landscape. The goal is to establish meaningful and lasting networks as well as to provide a platform for the discussion of ideas between young/early career and senior scientists in the field of radiation protection. These discussions can include topics such as mentorship, professional growth, open positions, interdisciplinary collaborations and training courses.
Why should I participate in this event?
This event provides a great opportunity to connect with peers who share both similar and different backgrounds working in radiation protection. During this event we will cover the relevant topic of AI within this field. The discussions will not only encompass the opportunities that AI provides for our manner of work in the future, but also how it can affect future careers and the challenges it introduces of stepping into the field.
In order to fully utilize the total potential of this workshop in fostering networking opportunities for early career researchers, the event is planned to take place in-person. The workshop will be directly followed by a dinner/social event, which serves to further promote building lasting connections.
What are the goals of this event?
• To discuss the impact of Artificial intelligence on future careers and opportunities in radiation protection.
• To connect early career researchers and professionals with experts working with AI in radiation protection from different sectors.
• To provide a platform where ECRs can openly discuss concerns, expectations, and future skill needs related to AI.
• To promote and strengthen the collaboration between early career researchers and professionals across Europe.
Attendance: Only in-person and only for ECRs registrants at ERPW
Time: 5th of October 2026 15:00-17:00+ (CEST) followed by social dinner sponsored by the PIANOFORTE Partnership.
