Presentation · Flash Talk Guidelines

3 Minutes – Make Every Second Count

The Flash Talk is a short, engaging introduction to your research. Its purpose is to:

  • present the main research question or topic,
  • highlight your most important findings or messages,
  • explain the significance of your work,
  • and spark interest in your poster.

Think of it as a concise pitch — deeper discussion happens in the subsequent Poster Session.

Recommended approach

  • Focus on one or two key messages
  • Keep the story simple and easy to follow
  • Avoid unnecessary methodological detail
  • Use visuals rather than dense blocks of text
  • Clearly communicate why your research matters
  • Finish with a clear take-home message

Tip: Practice several times and time yourself — three minutes pass quickly.

File Requirements for presentations:

  • Format: PowerPoint (.pptx) Please do not submit as PDF.
  • Slide format: 16:9 widescreen
  • File name: Please use the following naming convention:

Session#_number of talk_Last_First.pptx
Example: S1.1_3_Mustermann_Erika.pptx
Make sure the file name matches your assigned session and presentation number -> check the agenda.
