PLATFORMS

MELODI (Multidisciplinary European Low Dose Initiative)

Based on the outcomes of the yearly MELODI workshops, a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) is being progressively developed. To assure an open and vivid discussion and development of the SRA contributions from a large number of scientists and stakeholders is required. More information about the SRA and the ongoing discussion can be found under SRA. Comments are welcome.

Parallel to the SRA, a statement on a short- to medium-term research agenda for R&T projects has been developed to improve the scientific basis for radiation protection in Europe giving guidance for pending EURATOM R&T project calls. These recommendations can be found under MELODI documents.

EURADOS (European Radiation Dosimetry Group)

EURADOS e. V. is registered in the German Register of Societies as a non-profit association for promoting research and development and European cooperation in the field of ionizing radiation dosimetry.

The aims of EURADOS are in particular:

to increase the scientific understanding of the dosimetry of ionizing radiation,
to foster the technical development of dosimetric methods and instrumentation and their implementation in routine dosimetry,
and to harmonize the dosimetric procedures used within the EU and their conformance with international practices.

EURAMED (European Alliance for Medical Radiation Protection Research)

The aims of the European Alliance for Medical Radiation Protection Research (EURAMED) are achieved by promoting research and teaching and by publishing scientific and professional information, especially a strategic research agenda in the field of medical radiation protection research, thereby increasing the science base in medical radiation protection. EURAMED pursues its purpose by co-operating with relevant national, European and international scientific organizations active in this field of interest and in particular, with the national and international bodies that promote the interests related to medical radiation protection and medical radiation protection research as well as with patient organizations and the public at large.

NERIS (European Platform on Preparedness for Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Response and Recovery)

The mission of the NERIS Platform is to establish a forum for dialogue and methodological development between all European organizations and associations taking part in decision making of protective actions in nuclear and radiological emergencies and recovery in Europe.

ALLIANCE (European Radioecology Alliance)

The Director Generals of eight organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2009 and established the European Radioecology Alliance. Members of the Alliance bring together parts of their respective research and development programs into an integrated program that maintains and enhances radioecological competences and experimental infrastructures and addresses scientific and educational challenges in assessing the impact of radioactive substances on humans and the environment.

Together, the members jointly state their intention to bring together in a step-by-step approach and with an aspiration of sustainability, part of their respective R&D programs into an integrated transnational program that:

maintains and enhances radioecological competences and experimental infrastructures in Europe, with an international perspective, and
addresses scientific and educational challenges related to the assessment of the impact of radioactive substances on humans and the environment.

SHARE (European Platform for Social Sciences and Humanities in Ionizing Radiation Research)

The mission of SHARE is to stimulate the integration of social sciences and humanities (SSH) in research, practice and policy related to ionizing radiation, including, for example: radiation protection, low dose risk, radioecology, emergency preparedness and response, dosimetry, medical applications, radioactive waste management, nuclear energy production, safety, NORM, site remediation etc.

To this end, SHARE structures and enhances dialogue at the European level and beyond, among the different stakeholders, fostering the sharing of knowledge and information among various disciplines working on aspects of ionizing radiation.
