About us & Organisation
The European Radiation Protection Week (ERPW) is an annual, multidisciplinary scientific conference that brings together leading experts, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders in the field of radiation protection. Organised under the umbrella of the Consortium of European Radiation Research Platforms (MEENAS), ERPW serves as a central forum for advancing scientific knowledge, fostering collaboration, and addressing current and emerging challenges in radiation protection research.
Initiated in 2016 in Oxford, United Kingdom, the ERPW conference series has become a key event in the European radiation protection landscape. It is supported by major international research platforms that form the MEENAS Group, including:
- MELODI – Multidisciplinary European Low Dose Initiative
- EURADOS – European Radiation Dosimetry Group
- EURAMED – European Alliance for Medical Radiation Protection Research
- NERIS – European Platform on Preparedness for Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Response and Recovery
- ALLIANCE – European Radioecology Alliance
- SHARE – European Platform for Social Sciences and Humanities in Ionising Radiation Research
The ERPW 2026 conference is jointly organised by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany’s National Metrology Institute, and the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS).
ERPW aims to provide a high-level scientific environment for the presentation and discussion of cutting-edge research results, encouraging interdisciplinary exchange across radiation science, dosimetry, medical applications, emergency preparedness, radioecology, and social sciences. The conference facilitates knowledge transfer, critical dialogue on emerging scientific and societal issues, and the establishment of sustainable collaborative networks at the European and international levels.
By integrating diverse scientific disciplines and perspectives, ERPW contributes to the continuous development of evidence-based radiation protection strategies in support of public health, environmental safety, and regulatory decision-making.
